Play me — a poem

Comatose and filthy

next to sneakers and scarves

unstained, untainted.

‘Play me, play me’, I whisper.

Brittle strings

tourniquet my belly

unplucked, unheard.

‘Play me, play me’, I speak.

Fragile chin rest

a plastic scapula

undone, unwritten.

‘Play me, play me’, I scream.
